中山装 zhōnɡshānzhuānɡ noun Chinese tunic suit ▸ 穿着一身中山装 be in Chinese tunic and trousers 中山装A Chinese men’s suit named after Sun Yat-sen (孙中山) and designed, it is said, by Sun himself. The Zhongshan suit is a jacket with a high collar (later turned-down), buttons down the front, and four outside pockets. Trousers are in the western style, and of the same material and colour (usually khaki-green or blue) as the jacket. The suit remained as formal dress for government officials until the late 20th century. It is also known in the West as the Mao suit. |
