黄金周 huánɡjīnzhōu noun golden week 黄金周A seven-day public holiday, introduced in 1999. It takes place at National Day (1st to 7th October) and Spring Festival (Chinese New Year's Eve to the 6th of the first lunar month). Before 2008, it also included May Day. It is known as Golden Week because people spend money travelling and shopping at this time, and it is therefore a highly profitable period for business. |
